Status report...

I am back home...feels good, a month long stay in London has made me wonder how people manage to settle down abroad...leaving ones country. When I was in there I was not homesick, nor was I lonely, I had a gang of friends and colleagues there, all the comforts (including a huuuuge room with a king size bed), but what was missing was India itself. Maybe as you read this you feel, this is some kind of stupid patriotism that I am talking about...well whatever you call it, I am glad I am back home :D

Great :)
Well for making a little more money generally people end up losing valuable years of their life out there. Well its their life to lose. Who cares? not me !

hey.. i agree with you Apoorv.. I love India.. I left Delhi a few years ago.. all set in my London expat'ness to study and work and become.. and like you.. you lose years slogging, away from everyone who matters..I guess I just woke up and realised there's more to life.. one week to go.. and I'm home again. In all my stupid neo patriotism: jai hind.. I can't wait to be home again!!

I know exactly how you feel. I feel that way about Northwest Washington State. I miss Seattle like I'd miss air. I miss Puget Sound, I miss easy access to British Columbia, I miss Mount Rainier, I miss the food, I miss the attitude of the people, I miss the culture, I even miss the rain. It mists, there, much as I've heard that it does in England, but not in the summer. Summers there are rarely hot, but warm and shinig and lush and overpoweringly beautiful. Just thinking of a Seattle summer's afternoon brings tears to my eyes. I haven't been there since 1972. Nevertheless, it is my heart's home.

My ashes will one day be carried home, and some will be buried atop my mother's grave, in the shadow of the Cascade Mountains that I love so dearly. I fear I'll never afford the trip home in any other way.

If India is your heart, it should always be your home. Travel to your heart's content, but always come home to the place you belong!

I've enjoyed reading your account of your travels. :-)
